Experience Virginia

Just because IMGC 2021 is virtual doesn’t mean you won’t have opportunities to explore the Commonwealth of Virginia.

In addition to our lineup of conference speakers, sessions, and workshops, experience Virginia through these confernece bonuses:

  • Virginia themed swag box. Registered participants will be mailed a “swag box” of conference goodies in advance of the event. In addition to materials from horticulture vendors and sponsors, swag boxes will contain Virginia product highlights (think tasty snacks!)
  • Virginia native plants t-shirts. When you register, don’t forget to add a conference t-shirt featuring one of three Virginia native species: flowering dogwood, button bush, or bee balm and the VA state bird–the cardinal! See them here.
  • Virtual tours. Explore Virginia through our virtual tour platform. Learn more about virtual tours here.
  • Virginia recipe book. Virginia EMGs have contributed their favorite recipes for a special conference recipe book, which will be available virtually via Event Mobi.
  • Small group sessions. Small group sessions bring the experience of mingling and making connections at an in-person event to the virtual conference experience.

    1. Hi Rosemary, those sessions will be live virtual workshops. Participants will receive materials mailed to their homes and the instructors will walk through skills via Zoom so you can follow along. I believe both of these sessions are already full, however!

I am wondering how the bonsai workshop will work. Do we get a materials list prior to the workshop? I’m wondering about the need for a plant for the class and would like to look for one now since I live in South Dakota and as the conference gets closer, our season begins to slow down and nursery plant supply is minimal. I would like to shop now for a recommended plant. I would also like to purchase recommended tools but would need to know what tools to get. Thanks in advance. Debi
